Susie Carter was elected and installed as the Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Texas Auxiliary President at the Ninety Seventh Texas Auxiliary Convention in Dallas on June 10, 2023. She joined the Auxiliary in 2005 on the eligibly of her husband, James Carter, who severed in Thailand from 1966-1967. Susie is a life member of VFW Post 6873 in Abilene. She served as District 8 President for two consecutive years, 2016-2018, being named Outstanding District President in her division both years. Susie was elected Guard in 2018 an has held all Line Officer positions since. She is a life member of the VFW National Home and a member of the Cootie Pup Tent #36.

 

Her most memorable events since joining the Auxiliary is a toss up between her trip to the VFW National Home and the Legislative Conference in Washington DC.

 

Susie held a Texas Real Estate license while working in the construction field until retiring in 2005.

 

Being a United States Air Force wife for 22 years they have lived in many states and abroad but Texas has always been home. She and Jimmy have two daughters, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She enjoys making crafts, crocheting, and watching Hallmark.
